MVD Kalahari was appointed as Structural Engineers for the construction of a Medium Security Prison for 3000 inmates in Kimberley in 2004. Construction of this R830m project started in November 2006 and was completed in April 2009. The prison will be one of the first new generation prisons in South Africa. MVD Kalahari was employed as the Structural Engineers for the construction of a new Branch Court Building in Galeshewe, Kimberley. The project, comprised of an R43m complex started in September 2007 was completed in August 2009. The earthworks layered platform’s design and the reinforced concrete design of the complex were both awarded to MVD Kalahari. MVD Kalahari was also appointed by the Department of Public Works as Structural Engineers on a project to repair and renovate the Kimberley High Court. This R14m project, which has been running since October 2007, was completed by the end of April 2009.
