MVD Kalahari was employed as the Structural Engineers for the construction of a new Branch Court Building in Galeshewe, Kimberley. The project, comprised of an R43m complex started in September 2007 was completed in August 2009. The earthworks layered platform’s design and the reinforced concrete design of the complex were both awarded to MVD Kalahari. The two story building is comprised of five separate structures linked by bridges at both ground and first floor level. The ground floors are reinforced concrete structures with 1.3 m ground beams forming a float type foundation to cater for movement due to the clay swelling and heaving. The first floors are of structural steel with brickwork infill and a steel roof structure.
